LEE Gregory is a doubt for Millwall’s New Year’s Day trip to Ipswich Town.
Gregory went off in the 57th minute of the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and he was having a scan on his calf to determine the extent of the problem.
If he is ruled out then Aiden O’Brien is his likely replacement to play up front alongside Tom Elliott. Elliott also went off in the Forest game but Lions boss Neil Harris confirmed afterwards it was more that they didn’t want to take a risk with the striker.
The Tractor Boys are already in real danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the Championship and are seven points off safety with a much inferior goal difference to those they must catch.
Their previous boss Paul Hurst was sacked just before their 3-0 defeat at The Den in October. Since then Paul Lambert has overseen just one win in his 10 games in charge.
But Lambert isn’t giving up hope that they can survive.
“Some of the football we’re playing is at a high level, we’re just missing a cutting edge,” Lambert said after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.
“It’s a big game on Tuesday at home against Millwall, but if we keep playing the way we are, we’ll get results.”
Possible Millwall team:
4-4-2: Archer; Romeo, Hutchinson, Cooper, Meredith; J Wallace, Leonard, Tunnicliffe, Ferguson; O’Brien, Elliott.
