Millwall boss on future of Lions legend Cahill

NEIL Harris was asked after Millwall’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa if Tim Cahill would be with the club next season and he replied: “I wouldn’t have thought so.”

Cahill was suspended for the Villa clash so fans were denied the chance to give him a send-off if he has made his last appearance in a Lions shirt.

Harris believes Cahill intends to continue playing, but that is unlikely to be with Millwall.

“I wouldn’t have thought so. I will be catching up with Timmy later and in the next couple of days,” Harris said.

“His family are based in America at the moment. Tim’s thought process coming here was to make sure he was getting a level of training to ensure he was in the best possible shape to be ready for Australia for the World Cup.

“That was coupled with the fact that he was trying to boost us, and he has done that on and off the pitch.

“We thank him for that but will there be a chance he will be with us? I would never rules anything out, that’s for sure.

“Timmy Cahill, hopefully off the back of a World Cup campaign, will have a lot of offers from abroad and possibly this country, and a lot more lucrative than I can offer him.

“I’d like to think [he will go on playing]. He’s a fit lad…man! He’s in great shape. He has so many attributes that he offers. I would imagine he will play for at least another season.”
