Millwall centre-back Ward set to make Swindon loan move

MILLWALL defender Darren Ward is set to join Swindon Town on loan before the transfer deadline on Friday.

The centre-back has travelled to the West Country to complete the switch after the Lions agreed to let 33-year-old leave The Den.

It is thought the Robins’ £3,000-a-week wage ceiling has prevented a permanent move being agreed, with Millwall set to continue paying a proportion of Ward’s wages.

The South London Press report that Ward could move to the County Ground on a full-time basis in the January transfer window if the loan proves successful.
