CHARLTON manager Chris Powell admits his bid to sign Millwall striker Dany N’Guessan is set to go down to the wire.
The Addicks have seen a loan offer for the 25-year-old rejected but Powell is keen to resurrect the deal before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday.
But he says negotiations with the Lions are deadlocked and that N’Guessan may have to wait until the loan window re-opens to secure a return to The Valley.
The Frenchman scored four goals in seven appearances during a two-month stint at Charlton at the end of last season.
Powell, speaking at a press conference ahead of his side’s match against Nottingham Forest, said: “There’s been a long-standing interest from us. But there’s been a bit of a stalemate with regards to discussions about Dan.
“Whether something will happen before Friday I don’t know. We still have the opportunity of making a loan move in ten day’s time.
“But that’s a little bit out of my hands at the moment because we’d have to agree something with Millwall. Something may happen at the last minute.
“Dany would add a physical presence and power to our squad. He’s a goal threat and he would add to our mix of strikers. I want us to be strong in that department.”
