MILLWALL goalkeeper David Forde has signed a new deal with the club.

The 34-year-old put pen-to-paper on a three-year-contract on Friday afternoon, extending his stay with the Lions until 2017.

Forde, who had been away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, had previously declined the chance to commit his future to Millwall.

But with his deal set to expire at the end of June, the Irish international has now rubber-stamped terms on an improved contract.

Millwall’s Player of the Season for 2013-14 has made 279 Lions appearances since his arrival in 2008 and was in-between the sticks on 50 occasions last campaign.

As revealed by NewsAtDen, talks between the club and Forde had stalled over the length of his contract – with the former Cardiff City stopper holding out for four years.

A compromise has been reached whereby the goalkeeper has signed up for a guaranteed three years with the option of a fourth if he triggers an appearance clause.
