MILLWALL are set to give non-league striker Connor Calcutt a chance to impress in an U21 fixture against QPR on Tuesday.

The ex-Tottenham trainee, 19, has scored over 40 goals this season playing for Berkhamsted in the ninth tier of English football.

Calcutt trained with the Lions last week and will be given a run out in a development match.

Head of recruitment Mick Harford said: “He is a young lad and we don’t know whether he is going to be good enough or not.

“I went to a random game and he did very well. He looked the part. He’s a good size and has a good presence.

“He hasn’t looked out of place with our U21s so we’ll give him an opportunity. It might not work out, but I think there are players out there who can be found.

“This is us looking in non-league for young players who we can bring into the development squad and improve on the training ground.

“We’re unlikely to take players on who are 27 or 28 out of non-league because most of them are down there for a reason, but there are younger lads we are looking at.”
