MILLWALL have handed a four-month contract to Paul Connolly after the right back impressed on trial.

The 29-year-old has been brought in as cover with Alan Dunne suspended and Jack Smith struggling with a groin injury ahead of Saturday’s match against Derby County.

Connolly has been training with the Lions for the past week and manager Steve Lomas has seen fit to sign the former Leeds United defender until January 2014.

Lomas has made no secret of his desire to sign a new right back this summer, having previously shown interest in Justin Hoyte, Shaun Cummings and Paul Caddis.

Connolly, along with fellow new signing Martyn Waghorn, is eligible to make his debut against the Rams.
