KENNY Jackett has warned Millwall will come up against a Blackburn Rovers side “full of quality” in their FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

Despite the Lancashire club’s well-documented issues off the field and struggles in the league this season, Jackett says the Lions will have to be at their best to progress to the last four.

Michael Appleton took up the manager’s position at Ewood Park in January to become Rovers’ third boss of the campaign as their turbulent return to the Championship verged on becoming farcical.

But Jackett thinks their plight illustrates the potentially disastrous consequences of being relegated from the Premier League – and the difficulties of adjusting to relegation to the second tier.

“Coming out of the Premier League presents its own problems,” Jackett said. “It is a different set of problems to a club like Millwall, where we are haven’t been in the top flight before.

“Blackburn have had their problems since coming down. Do you stay strong financially and go for it? Do you gamble and try and get that status back? How do you use the parachute payments?

“Those have generally been their issues. But their squad is full of big names with quality and players with experience of playing in the upper echelons of the leagues.”

Jordan Rhodes has been Rovers’ shining light this season, scoring 20 goals following his big-money move from Huddersfield, but Jackett says the Scotland international is one of several danger men.

“The obvious threat is the goalscorer Rhodes,” Jackett said. “He’s scored at every stage of his career so far and he has carried that on at Blackburn. But they have a very talented squad.

“They have a lot of threats going forward – Danny Murphy, David Bentley, Morten Gamst Pedersen and Marcus Olsson. Michael has said in the press and that he’s trying to get the team solid.

“He’s brought in one or two players in Cameron Stewart and David Jones who aren’t available. So in terms of team selection and formation, they are like us in that there will be changes.”
