CHELSEA loanee George Saville has a crucial role to play at Millwall between now and the end of the season, according to manager Kenny Jackett.

Saville has been included in the Lions’ squad for their Championship fixture against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday after joining on a youth loan from the Premier League club.

And while Saville has yet to make a senior appearance during his career, Jackett has insisted he will not hesitate in throwing the midfielder straight into his side for the vital end-of-season run-in.

Jackett told NewsAtDen: “This is a chance for us to look at a player that we have liked for a while and who has caught the eye recently. He’s only 19 and this is his first loan move.

“I think he’s a very natural midfield player – he’s got a strong left foot, he can tackle, he can head the ball and he’s competitive. I’m really looking forward to working with him and seeing how he does.

“He’s another good youngster in London who can benefit from a big finish to the season at Millwall. I do think he will play and, as a left-footer, work his way into the team.

“Our games come in batches now – there are a high number of them and some big ones to. We’ve got to make sure we have our full quota of players to compete.

“We have eight games in April, six of them at home, so I would be foolish to think we would use the same starting line-up in those, even if everyone was available.

“We are making sure through a crucial last two months of the season we are as strong as we can be and that we are not scrambling around for players in that period. That’s paramount.”
